Hospitality: Cortina d’Ampezzo among the most expensive locations with 3.500 € for night


Second year in growing for Christmas tourism in mountain, with positive trend and an increase of 8% for presences in hotels.

This data was revealed from the last survey of inner Research Department of World Capital, which put under investigation tourism in mountain.

The previsions for winter season are really promising, with an increase both in overnights, which overcomes 6% compare to previous year, both for prices of nearly 10%, countertrend with past analysis.

To contribute to restart of sector, not only the positive economic situation of Italy and its competitiveness with other foreign locations, but especially winter landscapes and a really qualitative offer with hotels usually managing by luxury brands.

Among the most attractive locations, Cortina d’Ampezzo reconfirms itself as the most glamorous, following by Madonna di Campiglio and Courmayeur.

“Dynamism of touristic sector in mountain generated development of interesting investments in sector, with benefits both in quality of hotel offer and both in increase of prices. – claims Emilio Valdameri, Head of Hospitality of World Capital – Winter season records good performances in mountain and in ski runs. For a night in a suite room in Cortina d’Ampezzo, recently managing by prestigious Luxury Collection of Starwood, it costs nearly 3.500 € – continues Emilio Valdameri – Always in Italy, it’s interesting to highlight  the growth of important brand hotel chains, interested in managing hotels in mountain. In Belpaese we observe a strong presence of important brands, such as Leading Hotels of The World a Selva di Valgardena, un Relais & Chateau in Ortisei and a Design Hotel in La Thuile. For next season, on the other hand, there will be some new openings of 5 stars hotels in Courmayeur, Pinzolo and Cortina d’Ampezzo.”

The most prestigious hotel in Alps is Four Seasons of Megeve in France; here the most luxurious suite of over 140 sqm for the night of  New Year’s  Eve has a price of 15.000  €. Always in France, in Apogee of Courchevel for Prestige Suite the price is 9.000 € for night. In Tannenhof of St. Anton in Austria, whereas, price is 7.500 € for night  .

“The European location with the most number of luxury hotels in Alps is St. Moritz, following by Courchevel, both with 4 Leading Hotels of The World, brand already existing in Switzerland with 10 hotels (also St. Moritz, Zermatt, Gstaad and Crans Montana). – concludes Emilio Valdameri – Always in St. Moritz, we find a Kempinski, closer to that really existing in Kitzbuhel in Austria, whereas Davos has a recent Intercontinental and a Steigenberger.”
